All Society Members are able to purchase from the Allotments Trading
Sheds
staffed by volunteers which open for an hour / hour and a half on
Sundays. On
sale are a wide variety of garden products, including many
items that are
difficult to source from ordinary garden shops and
centres. In particular, a
wide range of fertilising and soil improving
agents such as 'blood, fish and
bone meal' and 'nitrochalk' for as little
as 25 pence a pound, seeds at up to
35% discount, bamboo canes,
fertilisers, composts and other sundries. Items
such as fertiliser and
onion and shallot sets (when in season) are sold by
weight, so you can
buy the amount you need. We have Green Manure seeds
(Winter Tares,
Winter Grazing Rye, Field Beans) in stock most of the year, and this
Spring/Summer (2011) are trying Phacelia for its combination of attractive
flowers, with bee and insect attracting qualities, and dense top growth.
See below for price list.
Trading Sheds are located at the Shepherds Hill and Alexandra Palace
allotment
sites (beside the car parks at both) and are open for new
memberships and sales
Sundays at Shepherds Hill from 11 am - 1 pm and at
Alexandra Palace from 11
am - 12.30 pm. Please note that over the winter
months, the sheds open only
on alternate Sundays, and at Shepherds Hill
for a shorter time - please check
by email (see contacts) for details of
dates and times.
